Spillage of liquid gases
A small amount of liquid can lead to the formation of a large amount of gas. Consequently, liquid spillage can rapidly cause oxygen deficiency in confined spaces and pits etc.
If you are handling liquid nitrogen it is recommended that you wear a personal oxygen deficiency monitor, to ensure you are working in a safe environment.
Alternatively it you are entering an area used for storage and handling of inert gases such as nitrogen and argon, it is recommended that a fixed oxygen monitoring system is installed.
BOC Cryospeed can offer advice on both personal and fixed oxygen deficiency monitors.
Tanks and equipment for the storage and handling of liquid gases should be inspected carefully and maintained in accordance with the relevant regulations or recommendations.
To help ensure that this risk is reduced, BOC Cryospeed carry out routine maintenance on all BOC rented storage vessels to comply with Pressure Systems Safety Regulation 2000.
If you currently own your storage vessel, BOC Cryospeed can also provide a maintenance package, Cryocare, to help you meet your Pressure Systems Safety Regulation 2000 responsibilities
